Music Apps!!!!!!

http://arts.unl.edu/nafme/DigitalAuthoring.pdf

In the classroom, using musical apps will help create a fun learning atmosphere for your students! Two of the apps that was discussed in this PDF that I felt that I would use in the classroom would be garageband and music notation with the ibooks author.  Garageband allows the students to create their own works without having the actual instrument. This saves a tremendous amount of money. The Music notation will allow you to see the written music and the audio for it. Once you download it onto ibooks, you can easily have access to it when displaying it to the class. These two apps will be a definate help to the classroom.

In 4 Life!

So we learned how to make a wix page. It was great and I am super pumped that we were given the opportunity to do it. I created my wix page on the worship band that I lead called “In 4 Life.” I lead worship on sunday nights with the youth and college group at Second Baptist Church and then I also lead in this band. We are not “wanna be Christian artists,” but we do lead worship around places in Arkansas. This wix page is something now that I can use to get my information out when I am asked to lead at different events.

Final Unit!

So we are folks!!!!!!! The final unit is on it’s way to being here! It’s exciting and scary all at the same time. In no shape or form is it ready, but it is coming. I really am pumped about this whole unit. After it is complete, I will breathe and look back to see and have a memory of music with this class. This post is also more of a focus on the second lesson which deals with making medleys! Love it!!!!

4 Chord progression!

final project guitar

I will be talking about learning four main chords on guitar and how the knowledge of these four chords will be able to carry you far in playing many different songs with them. I will then go into how to take many songs that have the same chords and teach how to turn them into a medley. I believe that this is important because kids love their pop music. I want to take learning music to a different level. First of all, the kids will learn how to play an instrument, then know how to put a medley together, and in the last part of my lesson they will know and learn about classical pieces with band and choir how they even use medleys. I will be able to take something simple and turn it into something big!

Not too shabby

http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/c530c116e9a61a15c1c27aeff29ccbbeb5178a06

This piece came from a friend named Abby and one saying that has been added to my collection is “not too shabby,” thanks to a dear boy. I put these two together to create not too shabby abby and here we are! It’s just a simple fun piece to sing that can teach going up and down in a scale. In a classroom setting Noteflight is a great way to share pieces not only that you created, but when the students have enough knowledge about music, they can begin to create their own masterpieces and show it off. This allows more freedom in presenting music in an easier format.

My final project ideas are as follows. The first is the use of Imagery. The second is similar chord progressions in songs to create medleys. The third is how music brings out emotion.

Hello, this is me!

Music has always been a huge part in my life. It is a way for me to express who I am and what I love. God gave me a talent in learning to play and sing music and I am using this gift for him. Over the years, I’ve had many oppportunities to work with children and youth and it is something I enjoy. With music, I get to show them my passion behind it and hopefully get them to fall in love with music as much as I do. I love encouraging and bringing an upbeat atmosphere wherever I am and that will be of great help getting the students that I teach to be pumped for learning.

One teacher that truly inspired me was my elementary teacher. Her name was Mrs. Music.  While she had another name, to everyone else in the school, Mrs. Music was her name. She always had a smile on her face and was always encouring to us. She gave me praise on whatever I did and pushed me to go further in my love for music. I will never forget how she took something so simple one time and made it into a wonderful way of making music. I don’t remember what grade I was in, but I will never forget this moment. I was wearing a bracelet that jiggled and made noise when I moved my arm. As a class we were clapping to the beat of a song and then she looked at me and stopped us. She came to me, asked to see my bracelet and talked about how my bracelet was a musical instrument. When we started the song again, I got to use my bracelet to play the beat and add a new element to the song. It was the coolest thing ever to take something so simple and make it into a wonderful memory. How I love my music of memory.

Help!!

Too many books and school is overwhelming me!!!! My name is Kimberly Hardcastle! I love music and school is almost done for me! My major is vocal music education! I hope to do some teaching but I also feel called into the ministry somehwere. This picture describes me perfectly when I’ve commited myself to too many things and get overwhelmed, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!!!!!!!!

Unforgetable

Last in my lesson, I had talked about timbre. I also mentioned how emotions are brought out in music due to timbre. This piece is performed by Natalie Cole with her father singing in the background. They took him singing this piece back in the day  and had Natalie record over it making it a duet with her father. How memorable is this that she is got to sing with her father. These two different timbres make such a unique sound.

Lesson 1- Jazz

https://w.taskstream.com/Unit/View/80436EB344FEE46C21EC91C3FE8481C8

This is my first time using task stream. I enjoyed doing it and I hope I got what was necessary lol. It was fun figuring out ways on how my Jazz Power Point could turn into a lesson plan that I can use for a week with my kids. In this lesson, we are dealing with Timbre and how it applies to music in our lives. More particularly on how it is used in a song called Tell Me Lies. Thanks!!! Love yall!!!!
